SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS
2023 Achievements:
- Continued the Distribution System Valve Maintenance and Replacement Program.
- Continued the Hydrant Maintenance and Replacement Program.
- Continued the Small Meter Replacement Program.
- Continued the Large Meter Testing Program.
- Completed construction of the Watermill Lane PFOS, PFOA, 1,4-Dioxane Treatment/AOP Facility.
- Completed design, bid and construction of the 2023 Water Main Improvement Project.
- Began design for the 2024-2025-2026 Transite Water Main Replacement Project.
- Began piloting and design of full scale treatment for perfluorinated compounds at the Community Drive well site.
- Continued the Lead & Copper Inventory.
- Began rehabilitation of well pumps, motors and associated equipment for Wells 9, 10A, 12, 13 and 14.
- Completed design, bid and construction of the 2023 Valve Replacement Project.
- Applied for and awarded the New York State Water Infrastructure Improvement Act (WIIA) grant of up to $5 million to help fund the Wellhead Treatment for Emerging Contaminants at the Community Drive facility.
2024 Plans:
In 2024, the Authority has plans for these major Capital Improvements:
- Continue Distribution System Valve Maintenance and Replacement Program.
- Continue the Hydrant Maintenance and Replacement Program.
- Continue the Small Meter Replacement Program.
- Continue the Large Meter Testing Program.
- Complete the Lead & Copper Inventory.
- Complete rehabilitation of well pumps, motors and associated equipment for Wells 9, 10A, 12, 13 and 14.
- Complete construction for flood mitigation measures at Well 9, A-Plant, and Administration Building.
- Begin design for the elevated storage tank corral and painting/overcoat system.
- Continue design and start construction of full scale treatment for perfluorinated compounds at the Community Drive well site.
- Complete design and begin construction for the 2024-2025-2026 Transite Water Main Replacement Project.
- Replace security cameras at all well stations and the Administration Building.
- Replace chemical analyzers at all well facilities.
- Replace and upgrade SCADA servers and associated software.
- Design and complete replacement of the existing 12" steel water main installed under Saddle Rock Bridge with drilled 12" HDPE water main.
- Begin design for the new Administration Building.
